ants

Two red ants locked in deadly combat- or maybe just passing the time of day. More likely, they are exchanging food by regurgitation (trophallaxis). There are a few million others in our garden. Their eggs are a local delicacy Hymenoptera: Formicidae: tried to count these ants in the garden yesterday-got to 2,357,981 then got fed up portrait of the same spiky ant. (ants are quite easy to photograph in Chiang Mai as they grow to about 6 foot tall and ten foot long)
